Dane Glasgow is a senior technology executive and serial entrepreneur who has built and grown a number of successful businesses across search, entertainment, commerce, communications, geospatial software, and finance. He is currently the vice president of Geo Product Experience at Google, Inc. He leads a global team of product managers, designers, data scientists and engineers helping to deliver products at the intersection of the digital and physical worlds including Google Maps, Google Local Search, Google Earth, and Google My Business to over a billion people around the world.

Prior to Google, Dane was the CEO and co-founder of Neoglyphic Entertainment, Inc. The company created cinematic-grade solutions for real-time game engines, powering customers across animation, video games, and AR/VR. Neoglyphic utilized advanced technologies in the fields of data science, machine learning and real-time 3D development to help creators develop hit franchises.

Before co-founding Neoglyphic, Dane held a number of senior leadership positions with eBay, Inc. Dane served as eBay’s vice president, mobile and local for eBay Marketplaces, where he was responsible for delivering the experiences, technology and general management that helped propel eBay’s mobile commerce volume nearly 70% to over $22 billion between 2012 and 2013. Dane also drove eBay’s local commerce efforts, leading the creation of innovative local shopping experiences like eBay Now, a same-day delivery service, and in-store pickup capabilities on eBay Marketplaces with top retailers.

Prior to that, Dane was eBay’s vice president of global product management, where he led a worldwide team of nearly a thousand people focused on delivering a compelling shopping experience globally for both buyers and sellers. Dane and team contributed a large part of the turnaround in eBay’s core business through improvements to eBay’s search, tailored shopping verticals as well as new selling tools.

Dane joined eBay in December 2008 through the acquisition of Positronic, a company he co-founded in Seattle. As Positronic’s chief technology officer, Dane set the roadmap for a sophisticated machine learning and natural language processing platform in the finance sector. Positronic’s technology and team were integrated into eBay following the acquisition.

Before co-founding Positronic, Dane spent nearly a decade at Microsoft in a variety of senior technology and general management positions across web search, desktop search, and communication services like Hotmail. His entrée into Microsoft was also via acquisition, through Jump.com, a company he helped create in Ithaca, N.Y. Jump provided the first completely connected, Internet-based email, calendar and tasks service. Dane served as president of Jump, overseeing product design, technology partnerships, and operations.

Dane attended Cornell University, where he majored in computer science within the College of Engineering. He also studied fine art and business while at Cornell. He left Cornell at the beginning of his senior year to focus his energies on launching Jump.com.

Dane is a regular media spokesperson, conference speaker, and university guest lecturer. He has over fifty US patents issued or pending in search, data mining, client software, and commerce technology. In 2011, Dane was named one of Silicon Valley Business Journal’s 40 under 40.

Outside of Google, Dane serves on the board of trustees for the SETI Institute, a non-profit scientific organization whose mission is to explore, understand and explain the origin, nature, and prevalence of life in the universe. He is a member of the Entrepreneurship at Cornell Advisory Council, helping foster entrepreneurship within the Cornell University network. Dane is also an active investor and advisor in the start-up community, and a maker at heart. He is the co-creator of the Sunborn Rising entertainment universe, and he spends much of his free time on machine learning, robotic vision systems, and natural language processing. He also enjoys photography and helping educational / community-based charities.
